Licensed asbestos removal across the Northern Rivers
Coastal Asbestos Removal removes bonded asbestos and tests suspect materials across the Northern Rivers, from Lismore, Ballina and Byron Bay to Casino, Kyogle and Mullumbimby. We are SafeWork QLD licensed, recognised for work in NSW under cross-border arrangements (Class B licence 2310863), and our team has over 30 years experience. Every job is quoted after an on-site inspection.
The Northern Rivers has many older timber and fibro homes, holiday cottages and farm sheds, and a lot of them were built before 1990, when asbestos cement sheeting was common. Flooding has also left many homes with damaged wall linings and sheeting that need checking before repairs. We plan Northern Rivers jobs in advance from our base at Arundel on the Gold Coast.
Services We Provide
Bonded Asbestos Removal
Licensed removal of bonded asbestos cement (fibro) sheeting from roofs, eaves, walls, bathrooms and fences, carried out by our Class B team. SafeWork QLD licensed, recognised for work in NSW under cross-border arrangements (licence 2310863).
Asbestos Testing
We take samples of suspect materials, and they’re analysed by a NATA-accredited laboratory.
Roof, Eaves and Fence Removal
Removal of asbestos roof sheeting, fibro eaves and fence panels, with height safety and licensed disposal.
Friable Asbestos (Class A partner)
Friable asbestos is removed by our Class A licensed partner, and we transport the waste under licence ESPX04056216.
Is my Northern Rivers home likely to have asbestos?
If it was built before 1990, it’s likely to have some asbestos cement sheeting, and any home built before 2004 can contain it, because asbestos was banned nationally from 31 December 2003. Flood damage can break sheeting down and make it more hazardous. You can’t tell by looking. Testing by a NATA-accredited laboratory is the only way to be sure.

I'm really glad I chose Coastal Asbestos Removal. My tests came back negative so I can't comment on the removal process but the testing process - gold. The team were so responsive and answered my questions before booking the appointment. Their pricing was excellent compared to others I've seen!Jason is such a great bloke. I had to look for where he took the sample it was very well patched. He was a fountain of knowledge answering my questions, and honest. I told him he could take more samples if needed - he said it wasn't needed and a waste of money. His honestly and integrity isn't something you see often these days!

We are a small Builder on the Gold Coast and recently engaged Jason and his team for some Asbestos removal. We can’t thank Karen, Jason, and the team for their advice and knowledge, given our limited experience with Asbestos it was nice to know we were in good hands. The work completed on time and we were able to then continue on with our side of the project seamlessly. Thanks again for all your help team, see you on the next project! Wouldn’t use anyone else.

We recently had asbestos removed from the walls and ceilings on the ground floor of our two-storey home. After learning that asbestos had been used, we contacted Coastal Asbestos based on a recommendation from a friend—and we’re so glad we did.The team was incredibly professional and efficient. Communication was smooth from the start, and Karen in the admin team was very responsive, patiently answering all our detailed questions. Thanks to her support, we felt well-prepared and at ease leading up to the job.We initially thought the removal would take 3–4 days, but they completed everything perfectly in just two days. We were told the asbestos was not too firmly bonded in our case, but we believe their speed and precision were a big reason why things went so smoothly. They also did a thorough clean-up before leaving, which showed their high level of professionalism. We are extremely satisfied with their work and would gladly hire them again. I’d confidently recommend Coastal Asbestos to anyone needing asbestos removal. Thank you so much!

I called up to get the stipple in my ceiling tested for asbestos. After hearing about how some companies swap samples and to be wary of business that test for asbestos (so they can get a demo job), from the moment I spoke to Karen and Chris I knew I could trust them and feel at ease. When Jason came to the property he was pretty confident that there wasn't any asbestos but I wanted to test just for ease of mind. I needed the sample tested asap as I had trades booked to start renovating the property in two days time. Jason knew this and personally delivered the sample to the independent testing centre that night for testing first thing the next morning. By the end of the day I had a negative test produced and were able to safely start our renovations. Thank you to Jason, Karen and the team for your out of this world customer service and your professionalism throughout the whole process. Hoping that the other trades I deal with as we renovate our property are just like you.
Adrian Hays

The owner of coastal asbestos came out and quoted the job which I though was great. He went through the whole process in detail which put our minds at ease. His guys turned up early and were ready to go. They went through the works process and explained what they were going to do. All work place health and safety were used and area was barricaded of with all correct signs in place. When the guys were finished the area was clean as a whistleIf I was to have asbestos removed again I would call coastal asbestos and have them do it. If any of my friends and family needed to have asbestos removed I would recommend coastal asbestos without hesitation.

Can’t recommend highly enough! We were going to get a sample taken “just in case” before getting the bathroom renovated, but because the technician knew when and how our house was built he confirmed no need to test and no charge for coming out. Saving money and a reputable business found! Winning!

Asbestos Removal Northern Rivers: FAQ
Do you remove asbestos in Lismore, Ballina and Byron Bay?
Yes. Coastal Asbestos Removal removes bonded asbestos and tests suspect materials in Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay, Casino, Kyogle, Mullumbimby, Alstonville, Evans Head and the surrounding Northern Rivers.
What should I do about flood-damaged asbestos?
Leave it alone and keep people and pets away. Have it tested by a NATA-accredited laboratory, then get a licensed removalist to quote. Badly broken-down material may be friable, and friable asbestos is removed by our Class A licensed partner while we transport the waste.
Can a QLD asbestos removalist work in the Northern Rivers?
Yes. We are SafeWork QLD licensed, recognised for work in NSW under cross-border arrangements (Class B licence 2310863). Friable work is carried out through our Class A licensed partner.
How much does asbestos removal cost in the Northern Rivers?
Our minimum charge for any work, including pickups, is $1,000 + GST, and removal jobs start from $2,500 + GST. The final price is confirmed after an on-site inspection and depends on access, travel, the type and weight of material, whether it’s friable or non-friable, and any extra work such as concrete cutting or fence excavation.
What do I need to do before you arrive?
Leave the suspect material alone and don’t try to break or clean it up. Keep children and pets away from the area, clear a path for our crew and vehicle, and move cars, furniture and belongings away from the work area where you can. Let us know about anything we should be aware of, such as tenants, neighbours close by or limited access, and we’ll explain exactly what to expect on the day.
